Customers Can Rapidly Integrate Legacy Business Applications with SAP NetWeaver

ATLANTA on 31 January 2007

Seagull Software (AEX: SEAGULL) a leading provider of high-performance solutions that transform legacy business applications into service-oriented architecture (SOA) assets, announced today that the LegaSuite 5.0 platform for legacy application integration has been certified to run on the SAP NetWeaver® platform, earning the “Powered by SAP NetWeaver” qualification. With LegaSuite, legacy applications become standard SOA services that can be invoked by SAP NetWeaver, and these services can now be easily accessible to users through the SAP NetWeaver Portal.

LegaSuite allows customers with critical business processes on legacy systems to reuse those processes across their enterprise. LegaSuite’s powerful tooling requires no changes to the legacy systems, and dramatically reduces the time, effort and expertise required for legacy integration with SAP NetWeaver.

To achieve Powered by SAP NetWeaver qualification, Seagull Software has demonstrated that LegaSuite 5.0 can be successfully deployed on a J2EE-based deployment of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Release 6.40 and is accessible via the SAP NetWeaver Portal. This deployment has been tested and certified by the SAP® Integration and Certification Center.

“Integration with legacy applications that do not have SOA-compliant APIs is one of the biggest issues facing enterprise IT today. Now that LegaSuite has achieved Powered by SAP NetWeaver status, customers can have confidence in our ability to seamlessly integrate important legacy applications with SAP NetWeaver,” said Don Addington, CEO and president of Seagull Software. “ Our vision of transforming legacy applications into shareable SOA assets is perfectly aligned with SAP’s vision for enterprise SOA, for SAP NetWeaver and the entire SAP application stack. We’re excited about helping SAP customers address integration with legacy systems.”

The combination of legacy applications, SAP NetWeaver and the SAP application stack can yield tremendously rich SAP NetWeaver-centric solutions.

“LegaSuite opens up a whole new world of possibilities for customers to accelerate IT’s response to business change, automate cross-application business processes that are costing time and money, and solve integration challenges driven by compliance and audit requirements,” Addington commented.

The SAP NetWeaver platform powers the mySAP™ Business Suite family of business applications, SAP xApps™ packaged composite applications and partner solutions such as LegaSuite from Seagull Software. SAP NetWeaver unifies integration technologies into a single platform and is pre-integrated with business applications, enabling change and reducing the need for custom integration.
