Managed Application Services added to Interoute’s Unified Computing portfolio

London on 20 September 2011

Interoute Communications Ltd, owner and operator of Europe’s largest cloud services platform, has acquired Quantix, a cloud services provider in Nottingham, England. This acquisition bolsters Interoute’s cloud-based unified ICT strategy by adding managed application services to its unified computing and managed hosting portfolio. Utilising Quantix’s “OraCloud” platform, Interoute will look to manage its International customers’ database applications, including Oracle and SQL, as a cloud based service.

An early innovator in the cloud space, Quantix’s expertise lie in managing database applications and their associated infrastructure. Quantix is an Oracle platinum partner and was recognised as one of the UK’s leading cloud companies in 2011. Interoute plans to build on the rich pool of specialist skills at Quantix’s headquarters in Nottingham and turn it into the Group’s centre of excellence for application management and cloud services development.

Gareth Williams, Interoute CEO, commented, “Our strategy is based around providing customers with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and services from the Ground (infrastructure and connectivity) to the cloud (fully managed services hosted within the Interoute private cloud). We are focused on service innovation combined with a constant drive for efficiency to bring value to customers and keep ahead of the market. Our enterprise strategy “Unified ICT” is an approach to creating and managing all enterprise ICT infrastructures as a service, delivered from a secure networking platform.”

Commenting on the deal, Quantix’s MD, Simon Goodenough said: “We have built a strong and loyal customer base in the UK, which we will continue to serve as usual. By joining forces with Interoute we are now able to take our services across Europe. We believe there is a natural affinity between our offering and Interoute’s and we are excited to be part of the journey towards becoming the leading provider of cloud-based services in Europe.”
