DDB and Interoute join forces in Digital Communication

DDB chooses Interoute for service quality

Paris on 15 November 2012

Over the last year, each time the communication agency DDB Paris has launched a Web-based campaign requiring substantial bandwidth and IT resources, with millions of unique visitors expected in a short time frame, it has turned to Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest cloud services platform, to be sure of flawless service quality.

“Since we started collaborating on our digital campaigns, Interoute has been our reference host”, enthuses Michael Paquereau, Technical Director at DDB. “Interoute offers hosting capacity and almost unlimited bandwidth, enabling our creative people to focus completely on the imaginative aspects of their work without worrying about the technology. This is important for us and our customers. Our customers have an unrestricted choice of the type of event they want to create: videos, interactive games, Facebook or other campaigns.”

Interoute adapts the technology and builds the best infrastructure to support traffic peaks in a way that is completely transparent for DDB’s customers.

Hosting is based on a private cloud implemented by Interoute. This enables prompt response when the workload on the servers start to ramp up. For example, when a major customer ran the 2011 edition of its sales operation, the Web infrastructure was scaled up to three times the previous year’s size. The operation was so successful that eight times more Web users connected to the platform. Interoute was able to scale up and triple capacity in the space of a weekend.

For the 2012 edition the platform was completely overhauled to optimise the performance and availability of the Web site: to support a large number of simultaneous registrations, two Gearman servers enable request queuing, and to prevent the servers from overload, two Varnish servers are used for page caching.

“By choosing Interoute as a partner for our Web hosting, we know that we are working with a company that has experience of very busy Web sites, and has quick reflexes”, explains Michael Paquereau, Technical director at DDB. “With references like UEFA, they have demonstrated to our customers that they really do have a robust infrastructure. ”It’s great to work with the technical support teams at DDB. They react fast, can be contacted at any time and have great interpersonal skills. We’re on the same wavelength and have built up a real relationship of trust.”

“Interoute is the owner operator of Europe’s largest cloud services platform and is the ideal partner for a big agency like DDB that works for successful digital campaigns such as Tropicana France during Roland Garros or MINI France (BMW group). Moreover, for our major international customers, our European dimension is an additional asset”, says Régis Castagné, CEO of Interoute in France. “DDB and its customers can be sure that the performance of our network and infrastructures, and our flexibility and speed of response will guarantee that their projects succeed.”
